Simple! Simple! Some things are just simple truths in leading and they are not to be ignored. Some things, based on historical facts, should make us wiser, and not drive us to repeat the same mistake(s) over and over again. Unfortunately, how often do we not learn from mistakes?
How many times did you get a warning not to touch the hot stove? Did you immediately learn the lesson? As a result, did your curiosity get the best of you? It was the beginning of a simple truth in leading.
Tenacity to Complicate Things
Leadership is complicated by our own standards. The simple truths in leading cannot be found in human relationships; real leadership is God-directed. Besides, humans tend to have the tenacity to complicate things in life.
Moreover, warning signs are all around us i.e., street signs, medication labels, yard signs and others. Yet, warnings can be so simple that our curiosity gets the best of us, so we “touch the hot stove anyway.” Regardless, history shows that humans will “drink the cool aide anyway!”
Cause and Effect
Meanwhile, for every cause there is an effect. First, when we try to fashion God to fit our own realities, to suit our beliefs and our way of thinking, then we fail in the pursuit of His wisdom. Second, when we try to promote culture as the way that everyone should live as the standard of life, then we fail in the pursuit of allowing others to find where truth lives. Third, when we equate success in our lives by popularity i.e., celebrities’ status and other popular figures, then we fail in seeking success through the only True God. As a result, we end up with “fool’s gold (pyrite).
Mind Control
Notwithstanding that mind control is the underlying factor of leadership, leaves one vulnerable and a place for the enemy. Simple truth ask yourself, “Who is trying to control your mind?” Satan knows that if he controls your mind, he controls your actions (Eve, in the Garden). For example, Satan convinced Eve that she would be like God if she ate the forbidden fruit. How did that turn out for us? Disobedience to God is simply SIN!
People Standards Change

Human standards change! Simply put, what was good yesterday, is not good today. In human realities, temperaments and dispositions are temporary fixtures among the status quo and subject to change based on the latest fab. Humans often see the world through their own reality and establish standards based on what they view. Given that human insights are usually the definition of their own personal interests or goals, what will be the likely results?
All is Not Lost
As previously stated, leadership is complicated by our standards and the simple truths in leading cannot be found in human relationships; real leadership is God-directed. John 16:13 is a reminder of how truth and leadership meets in the earth. The Spirit of Truth is the Guide to those who choose God as the Father, Son and Spirit of Truth. Although the scripture gives this as a simple truth, most people in leadership trust in standards set the world. Notwithstanding that the Spirit of Truth is the standard given by our Creator, most leaders reject Him as a standard. Why? This standard calls for operating in God, as the true leader and who is in control of all. The Spirit of Truth is to the most hardened leader if the person chooses to be led by Him in life.
Know the Rules for Engagement
It is foolish to argue with a fool. A simple truth from Proverbs. God establishes the rules of engagement. Jesus did not argue with other leaders, officials, or others to convince them to believe in His authority or leadership. Even the most reasonable leader can sometimes be unreasonable. Identically, the most accommodating human can become unaccommodating. Likewise, tactful negotiations can become quarrelsome by the most measured and well-meaning leaders. Therefore, servants of God, as leaders must seek wisdom of God for the simplest direction to maintain fellowship among Christians and represent Christ in us.
Remember, God’s standards do not change. We are NOT to fit God in our standards; rather, we are to live by His standards of operation. As servant leaders, our service must meet the approval of God and not of man. This is the leadership that pleases God.
Conclude the Matter
We were made for God’s purpose, not God made for our purpose. All things were created by Him. We were designed by Him to operate in the Earth; however, our mindset must be His. Real leadership is from the Heavenly Father. Pray for the type of leadership that pleases God. The world’s standard is not God’s standard of operation. That is a simple truth.
