A Hand of Hope!

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

If you are one of those who are looking at extreme circumstances in our world today, and perhaps you are wondering, “Are we going to be, ok?”  You are not alone.  In fact, we need and seek comfort in knowing that it is still well.

I want to witness with you and to you at this very moment that, “It is well.  Still, it is well!”  I must have this type of hope, this type of faith not in myself but in the Creator who has promised never to leave us.  The world is in need of this type of hope in this season.

Music+ Talk on Spotify – Cheer Up! On Your Feet!

One such story that continues to give me hope is the story of Blind Bartimaeus (bar-ti-me’-us) of Jericho, which is an ancient Palestinian city located in the West Bank.

The story is recorded in the tenth chapter of Mark in the English bible.  In fact, the words in verses 49-50 are:

There have been times in my life that I need to be reminded, “Cheer up! Get on your feet!”  There are times that each of us must encourage someone else and encourage ourselves.  “Self, Cheer Up!  Get on your feet!  God has not changed!”

Can you imagine, how this man must have felt at that very moment.  To hear these words during a time of despair, bought an instant response.  So much so that he through aside his cloak and jumped to his feet.

How he must have felt when the disciples said, “Jesus is calling you.”

Today, while you have breath in your body, it is your purpose, no matter where you are in this world, to be excited with a hope.  Truly, this man had been waiting for a message as this.  A message that not only was to bring him physical healing but spiritual healing.

No matter your pain, somebody needs to hear you say, “Cheer up! On your feet!”   You may be the only person at that particular time that person will trust.

You may be that person who can help that individual find the help that they need.  It is an outward expression of love and compassion for another – beyond yourself.
