How great is it to know that God will speak for you! Even when you do not feel God’s presence, He is not far from you. He speaks up for his children. Pointedly, what a great example of this in the vision given to the prophet Zechariah. During the time when the people (of Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem) were in bondage, God promised that his mercy will be shown. He will even come down from his home in heaven for his will be done concerning their future (Zechariah 2:13). God’s Word does not return void. So, how does God speak for you?
From Vision to Eternity
In the example, recorded in Zechariah 3:1-4, God, himself, gave Satan a personal rebuke. God will rebuke Satan. “I reject your accusations, Satan; yes, I, the Lord, for I have decided to be merciful to Jerusalem—I rebuke you.” When the accuser stands ready to bring accusations against you, remember God has spoken against him. God came from heaven in the form of Jesus the Christ to take away the stain of sin. He did just that with the work of the cross! O death, where is your sting! There is no condemnation for those who accept Christ as the Lord and Savior of their lives. The desire is that your will align to His will.
God’s Moment of Silence
Second, behold the silence! God not only will silence and rebuke Satan, but he will also allow us a time to reflect. The relationship you have with God is not an ordinary one. As in any relationship, there is a time of silence. The psalmist (Psalm 77) tells how God’s silence allows him to search his soul and meditate on things. Even in a troublesome time, the psalmist remembers the miracles of God. Thus, silence is a good thing given to us by God for remembrance of things.
When things are too noisy, it can be difficult to find the great take-aways. The New Kings James Version (NKJV) of Philippians 4:8 reminds us to think on these things; in the Message Bible (MSG), you will find the words as this, “Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.”
Why Does God Choose to Speak – Leap Over Walls
Why does God choose to speak to us in such profound ways? To build our faith! David was a witness of how God allows you to leap over walls because of the enemy. It magnified David’s faith in God. Yet, how can you be certain that it is God’s voice that you are hearing? God’s voice will help you view the mountain as an anthill. Your troubles will have only a resemblance of an avalanche waiting to fall down upon you. But the voice of God will tell you that God is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than you can think or ask.
Even when the tribulations are as great as an ocean, God will bring things back to your remembrance as God did for David. The Holy Spirit will help you view the mountain as an ant hill and your ocean as a waterfall. In God’s timing, the soft clouds will replace the hailstorm. Sooner and later, you leap over the wall.
Joy Comes in the Morning
Finally, joy will come in the morning. From far off, He will send his angels to have charge over you. He will visit you in the night with the love of a Father. Yes, there will be an intervention from heaven. In due time, added strength replaces the heavy heart. By then, your eyes in that moment are much clearer.
So, “May the words of your mouth and the meditation of your heart be acceptable to the Lord. May you walk in the path God has set for you.”
