Auditing Leadership
Leadership matters! Are you willing to take inventory of where, what, when, who and how? Well, stir into a mirror. Guess what? Leadership is stirring back at you! Yes! How is that possible? It is because leadership is the design of God (not man). It is the principles of governing. There are authorized ranks given by Him. However, the choice of who you follow and who follows you is still free will. Stop trying to sidestep the accountability of what God has given you! It is time to audit your leadership!
Desired Leadership
What is your desire in leading? More than anything, does your leadership align with the promises of God to you? John 17:24-26, speaks of a desire from the Heavenly Father for a better outcome. Desires of your heart are known by God. The Word says, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4.” Comparatively, one great leader who understood this is Paul. He understood to be successful in life, meant leading with God’s desires. He stated, “But I learned the command not to covet, for instance…I discovered the law’s commands which were to bring life,” Romans 7:9-11. Thus, desire the leadership in you that will bring life and not darkness. The result is good fruits from your work that will bless and not curse.
Boat Situations – Who?
Life has raging storms. Who is in the boat with you in raging storms? Most bible students have read about the calming of the storm by Jesus the Christ in Matthew 8:23-27. First, take a look at who is in the boat with you? As a leader and mentor, take stock of the “who.” Once again, Paul gives examples of how to audit. Note 1 Timothy 4:6;16. Summarizing, take these steps in the audit process:
- Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wife’s tales.
- Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better benefits
- Teach and insist that others learn.
- Be a good example to all believers.
- Live in love, faith and purity through the Holy Spirit.
- Focus on reading the Scriptures.
Visionaries in Leading
Yes, you have a vision. God-given followers will be those who become leaders and mentors as well. Jesus trained chosen people to carry out the tasks for greater. John 14:12-14, “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. 13 You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. 14 Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!
Finally, when it’s time for you to move on to the next assignment of greatness, your followers have become part of the legacy in leading with greatness. A visionary will take stock for better.
